After a two-year period of extensive writing both for movies and albums, Ola was commissioned by Trondheim and Molde Jazzfestival to present a new project in 2010. He assembled an octet and named it ”Liarbird”, featuring some of the most talented musicians in Norway such as Mathias Eick and Håkon Kornstad. Liarbird was a big success with critics and audiences, and was followed up by an album release and extensive touring throughout 2011. The album was finally awarded the norwegian Grammy for Best Jazz Album 2011. "Liarbird" is by many considered to be Ola Kvernberg's biggest leap towards a unique personal sound and stylistic direction so far.
